karesansui
A karesansui is a Japanese dry garden, where rock and raked ground stand in for mountains and water, and this one is mine, a vertical version built in preserved moss and stone for the ArtBox window at Lincoln Square on South Broad Street in Philadelphia.
It was up for six months, from August 2024 through February 2025, presented by the Center for Emerging Visual Artists. I designed it hoping it would give people moving through Center City somewhere to pause, and something quiet to look at on a busy street.
